Penis head
Glans Penis Enlargement
Filler placed into the head of the penis, to balance proportion after shaft augmentation or as a standalone treatment.
The treatment
Proportion, not just size.
Patients who have had shaft filler sometimes find the head now looks small by comparison. Filler to the glans restores that balance. It can also be done on its own.
3 ml — $1,950
The standard glans dose. Larger volumes are placed across separate sessions.
Reversible
Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if the result is not what you wanted.
Important
Sensitivity is a real consideration.
- Filler to the glans can reduce sensitivity, for the lifetime of the filler.
- Generally this becomes more pronounced above roughly 6 ml.
- That effect is why larger glans doses are sometimes used deliberately to treat premature ejaculation, typically over two or three sessions.
- If reduced sensitivity is unwanted and occurs, it can in most cases be reversed by dissolving the filler.
If preserving sensation matters most to you, say so at consultation. Your physician will keep the dose conservative or advise against it.
Dose and technique
How the glans is treated.
The glans takes a different product from the shaft — a finer, less firm hyaluronic acid, because the tissue is thinner and the result needs to stay soft rather than structural.
Typically 2 to 6 ml is used to increase the size of the head, sometimes staged across two or three visits so the result can be assessed between sessions. Above roughly 6 ml the same treatment begins to reduce sensitivity, which is why larger doses are used deliberately for premature ejaculation.
No surgery is involved. Numbing cream is applied to the end of the penis, then the physician injects the filler while you lie back. It is reversible at any point with hyaluronidase, and more can be added later.
Two things to weigh first.
If you want size without a change in sensitivity, understand that HA injections to the glans can reduce sensitivity for the life of the filler. In most cases that is reversible by dissolving the filler.
If you are uncircumcised, a larger glans may make the foreskin harder to retract, with a risk of phimosis — difficulty retracting the foreskin when cleaning, which can raise the chance of infection.
Individual results vary from person to person.
Published evidence
What the literature says.
Glans augmentation with hyaluronic acid is one of the better-documented procedures in this field. These are the primary sources.
